Not remixes. Reinventions. For their new Rare But Serious Side Effects (EarSnake), impossibly creative Philly dance duo Gemini Wolf told some friends to turn their songs inside-out. Adam Sparkles heard the quick-hit "I'll Take U" as a Gang Gang Dance gamelan hustle; "Wick Effect" becomes a glitchy, ambient expanse at the hands of William Fields. Bilwa stretches out the heretofore broody "Stakeout Spy Van" to eight disco-funktastic minutes. Equally deconstructionist is newcomer Attia Taylor (pictured), who joins GW on this month's Sugar Town bill. The Girls Rock Philly alum distills pop down to keyboard loops, hypnotic clicks and her honeyed, Mary Timony-esque vocals.
