There are only the pursued, the pursuing, the busy and the tired. Which are you? Break the chains that bind you to the same old haunts in Center City and enjoy what organizer Arielle Brousse calls "an atmospheric evening" and marathon reading of F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby at Kelly Writers House to celebrate the 85th anniversary of the great American novel's publication. KWH will time-warp back to the '20s with themed T-shirts, copies of Gatsby and period music. "We have someone make note of every food mentioned in the book and prepare it," promises Brousse. "This year should be a little fancier than the popcorn and hotdogs we had for On the Road."

Fri., April 2, 3 p.m., free, Kelly Writers House, 3805 Locust Walk, 215-573-9748, writing.upenn.edu.
