Any good musician knows that one particular instrument deserves fine tuning: your body. Settlement Music School hopes to help musicians improve their performance through a workshop on the Alexander Technique. Created by Australian actor F.M. Alexander, the technique focuses on posture, mind set, breathing and concentration of bodily movement. "All musicians can benefit, even singers," says SMS associate staff member Kyle Bartlett. People struggling with chronic pain can also benefit from this class, which unifies mind and body to strengthen endurance. Bartlett encourages participants to bring their instruments, whatever they may be, and to be prepared to be interactive. You and your body will make beautiful music together.
