The Dead Oceans/Jagjaguwar/Secretly Canadian cabal has been snapping up folksy indie rock acts left and right recently: Akron/Family, Califone, Phosphorescent, Bon Iver. Mellow Minneapolis duo Peter Wolf Crier is among the label group's less-established recent signees, but their speedily crafted, curiously titled debut, Inter-Be, finds them in fine stylistic company, full of fuzzy warbled melodies and raggedy back-porch strums, with a personable if sometimes circuitous songwriting approach.
