As long as the audience decides that what goes on behind the screen is more interesting than what's actually on it, Casaburdan Productions has succeeded. Now Showing: In Real to Reel Live Action 3-D! is about new employees on the staff of a run-down movie theater in the '90s. In between scenes, a screen will descend from the Walking Fish ceiling and show faux movie trailers — which Now Showing co-creator David Burgess calls "cartoonlike and artsy." To add to the theatrical experience, audience members will be able to buy movie snacks from the onstage concession booth.
