[ trans art/activism ]

From puppetry and poetry to freak-folk and noise, this collaboration of creative transgendered individuals and their advocates seeks to evoke gender-variant activism through art. "[Trans individuals] are the most interesting and the most creative people you are going to meet," says punk-influenced organizer Leah B., "and I hope this event shows that to a lot of people." Along with acts like a stick and a stone, Dim Dusk Moving Gloom and Geppetta, Miss B. will showcase revealing, emotion-packed poetry from her book of prose and sketch, ---- And Her Brain. "[Performing] is an evolving process," she says — "kind of a second coming out."

Tue., Oct. 26, 7 p.m., free, LAVA Space, 4134 Lancaster Ave., 215-387-6155, lavazone.org.
