For Spiral Q, puppet-making is more than arts and crafts — it's a way to share stories about the community. The 11th annual Peoplehood Parade and Pageant combines choreography, music and verbal wordplay to create an evocative tableau of expression. Executive director Tracy Broyles explains that, despite the unconventional presentation, the roots of Spiral Q's muse are universal. "Translating thoughts and stories with these media may be new to some," she says, "but these kinds of stories have been with us since our youngest days."Sat., Oct. 23, 1 p.m., free, Paul Robeson House, 4949 Walnut St., 215-222-6979, spiralq.org.
