Having just concluded a monthlong series on Roman films, the Friends of the Philadelphia City Institute Library are spending December hosting a weekly sequence of flicks dedicated to the world's most celebrated wordsmith, William Shakespeare. The five-film lineup — thoughtfully representing different regions, time periods and genres — begins with Tom Stoppard's 1990 Hamlet-twisted Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, and subsequently includes Giuseppe Verdi's comic opera, Falstaff, and the 1998 rom-com that sent all our young hearts aflutter, Shakespeare in Love. Oh, Gwyneth, won't thou please eateth a sandwich?

Every Wednesday in December, 2 p.m., free, Free Library, Philadelphia City Institute Branch, 1905 Locust St., 215-685-6621, freelibrary.org.

I wondered if you could provide some more information on their screening methods. Do they play it on a small tv or is it projected onto a screen?
