For the fourth year, the Philadelphia Center for the Book has gathered 30 paper-based artists from the Philadelphia area to obliterate your notions of typical big-box holiday shopping. And don't expect greeting cards to dominate the merch — paper makes more than just planes. Artists from past shows have sold handmade paper jewelry, ornaments and blank sketchbooks. There will also be free bookmaking workshops at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., friendly for anyone who can make simple stitches with a thread and needle.
Sat., Dec. 4, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., free, Free Library, Central Branch, 1901 Vine St., philadelphiacenterforthebook.org.
