If your half-assed vow to hit the gym in 2011 needs a shot of adrenaline, Hood to Coast might do the trick. The documentary follows the annual Oregon relay race of the same name, which takes 12-person teams from the top of Mount Hood to downtown Portland and finally, 24 hours and 197 miles later, to the shores of the Pacific Ocean. The race itself is grueling, but the participants' stories — from the family participating in memory of a son who died, to the longtime marathoner whose heart stopped during her last Hood to Coast, only to be revived by fellow runners — make the most impact.
