If these tough economic times are cramping your arts patronage style, the Painted Bride's Post-Op Festival feels your pain. Its performances are all donation-based, so you can fork over exactly what you feel a show is worth. Should you attend this weekend's American Chameleons: A Performance Showcase, just figure a fair price for a bunch of stimulating artists, all of whom are newcomers. Featured are Brandin Steffensen, iele paloumpis, Michelle Boulé, Hilary Clark & Larissa Velez, Vince Johnson/illReality Crew and Kosoko Performance Group (pictured), a potpourri of experimental solo, trans/queer video, hip-hop, postmodern and more. Temperament runs from edgy to fun to parts in between. I'd wager all that's worth at least a double sawbuck; your personal valuation may vary.
