It seems an improbable combination — organ and flute — but each instrument defies stereotypes. The flute can be piercing and violent, while the organ can softly purr. An imaginative composer can find magical mixtures of color and timbre. In Dolce Suono Ensemble's first concert of 2011, this unusual repertoire is center stage, with music by Jehan Alain, Marcel Dupré and Frank Martin for flute, cello and organ. Curtis organist Alan Morrison (pictured) is the guest artist. This concert also marks the debut of a partnership with the Domingo-Cafritz Young Artist Program, with music by Bach and others to be sung by soprano Je-gyung Yang.
