While many a veteran of New York's late-'70s loft scene have traveled far afield — musically as well as geographically — from those legendarily fevered, uncompromising performances, Jemeel Moondoc's raw, piercing wail is an umbilical link direct to that time. Founder of the influential ensemble Muntu, which counted William Parker and Roy Campbell among its membership, Moondoc has never strayed far from his exploratory, densely tendriled aesthetic, which will find its latest expression with bassist Hill Greene and drummer Chad Taylor.
