Offhand, Joe Lovano and John Scofield don't seem the most natural fit, despite a crossing of paths in the early and late '90s (in the latter case, as one-half the collective quartet ScoLoHoFo). Lovano is a classic-style tenorman with a burly tone and a cool-cat demeanor, while Sco is a post-fusion fretblazer with a psychedelic tinge. What the two do share, however, is a restless sense of adventure that finds each cropping up in new contexts constantly. For this reunion, the pair will be ably accompanied by drummer Matt Wilson and bassist Matt Penman.
