On his sophomore release, We Move, Sachal Vasandani furthers his case as the modern-day equivalent of yesteryear's velvet-voiced smoothies, with a caramel-smooth tone, smoking jacket cool and just a glint of hipster edge. He lets loose his inner Bobby Darin on an ebulliently swinging "By the River St. Marie," but for the most part, whether interpreting Monk, Rodgers and Hart or his own heartfelt originals, Vasandani projects an elegant serenity, inflected with a New Age spirituality.
