(L-R): A ghost, Grubb, Oliva and your friendly neighborhood food editor

The CP gang dropped by Nodding Head (1516 Sansom St.) this past Friday to formally congratulate the brewpub for taking home top honors in our inaugural Beeramid competition. Grog, the Head's popular English-style brown ale, beat Flying Fish's equally deserving Belgian Abbey Dubbel to claim the prize. (All the info you need about the final two beers can be found here. Why not drink one or both while watching Kansas v. Memphis tonight?)

We tracked down the Grog masters — from left, that's head brewer Gordon Grubb, assistant brewer Enrique Oliva and yours truly, looking characteristically weird — for a little photo op action.

Look for that classy certificate on display — maybe even in the bobblehead case, says co-owner Curt Decker — sometime soon.

In a cruel, cruel twist of fate, they didn't have any Grog on tap when we went. I'm guessing that scary apparition over Grubb's right shoulder had something to do with it.
