A bento box at either Tampopo is always a solid investment — beef, chicken, pork, shrimp or tofu, some rice, a salad, edamame and a side of your choice (gyoza's great, but we often just get broccoli) for under $10. It's gratifying dealage.
Wanted to point you to a seasonal special at the 21st Street location that you should take advantage of before it goes away — the fish fillet katsu bento box, which'll set you back just $9.50. Friendly portions of tilapia coated in panko breadcrumbs do a nice lunch or dinner dance with Tampopo's signature teriyaki sauce. Light, healthy and tasty. Basically the polar opposite of the Volcano Taco.
