1026 Mummers continue to strut inconvenient truths (updated)
Last year our Ryan Creed brought you the inside story of the Space 1026 Mummers' maiden run though the treacherous world of mumming. Last year, the Vaudevillains NYB's theme was "Under the Sea," as in, once global warming hits, we're all going to be living …
We just received word from Hillary Rea, onetime CP intern, current Arden apprentice and presently one of the driving forces behind the 1026 brigade, that this year's theme will be "Mummers in a post-apocalyptic nuclear winter," which I'm sure will be loaded with not-too-subtle political overtones. We're told the routine will include a song written especially for the Vaudevillains NYB, Mike Robinson (King God/Holland Boys/Human People/sometimes Sweatheart)-penned "Nuclear Winter."
Their 24-hour sewing marathon starts tomorrow at noon at Space 1026 (1026 Arch) and runs through Sunday at noon (duh).
The costumes will be "giant slugs, mutating humans (in unitards), a robot army and robot royalty)."
"We also have a string band for transitions down Broad Street with some members of Need New Body," Rea adds.
Color us excited.
The Vaudevillains, in addition to their New Year's Day strut, will be performing on NYE at the Electric Factory with Gogol Bordello.
(I'm sure Larry West will hate that we're just telling you about this now.)

Damn, another last-minute update! LOL!
Well, you did just receive word and the thing goes all weekend. That’s not bad; it’s not like you sat on it for a week.
Will try to attend!
