Night Moves: The Philadelphia Twestival

Don’t know what to do tonight? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.

Geeks love making up words: blog, defriend, googlebomb, tweet — the list goes on. Enter the Twestival (Twitter + festival), a party/fundraiser/Twitter meet-up that is happening tonight in more than 100 cities around the world. Each Twestival is volunteer-organized, and all proceeds will benefit charity:water, a nonprofit that aims to bring safe drinking water to people in developing nations.

Philly's Twestival (@phltwestival) is going down on the second floor of Headhouse Square's Get Happy Pub, and your $10 ticket ($15 at the door) gets you one free drink, one raffle ticket, and one warm-and-gooey feeling of altruistic joy. Raffle prizes include gift certificates to local restaurants, admission to events you want to go to anyway (like First Person Arts StorySlams and the Live Arts & Fringe Festival), an iTunes gift card and more. Get Happy will also offer drink specials just for Twestival attendees: $2 domestic drafts, $3 well drinks, $4 pints of Guinness and $5 bomb drinks. Once you're good and sauced, you can sign up to enter the Rock Band tournament ($25 in advance, $30 at the door). Winners will get first pick of the raffle prizes, so play hard.

Philadelphia Twestival, 7 p.m.-midnight., $10-$15, The Get Happy Pub, 509-511 S. Second St., 215-574-2995. Click here for tickets.
