Cantina Dos Segundos
931 N. Second St.
215-629-0500Mexican/Southwest, Northern Liberties
Cantina Los Caballitos fans will find Dos Segundos’ setting familiar — burnt orange walls, distressed wood floors, punched tin wall sconces. But those looking for Dos to re-create the Passyunk scene may be disappointed — it's simply not something you can export from South Philly. Not that Dos needs it — there's enough originality here to spawn its own fan base. The deep flavors of cumin and juicy rendered pork fat in the house-made chorizo shine best in the tacos. In the tasty torta al pastor, a Mexican sandwich, pork legs soak up a traditional marinade before roasting on a trompo, or vertical rotisserie. They dice sushi-grade bluefin for wonderfully filling tostadas atun. A special of sopa camote, a vegetarian roasted sweet potato soup, harmonizes layers of sweet and smoky with dried chipotles and rich crema. There's a chic Southern Hemispheric wine list in play, as well. Open daily, 11 a.m.-2 a.m. (food served till 1 a.m.); brunch served daily, 11 a.m.-4 p.m.

and in regards to the service - i've had bad and good service there, so it's a wash. and bad service, unless i am physically abused, would never prevent me from going back to a place. and the 'bad' service there was nowhere near that bad. this one waitress was oh so dumb, poor thing.
