They may not have the best dietary habits, but the undead can sure party. Four times a year, Dracula's Ball gathers Philly's most fangtastic for a little after dark fun. Presented by Philly Goth scene vet Patrick Rodgers, the party has evolved into the largest event of its kind since beginning in May of '98. This time around, Philly native and industrial rocker Jessica Vale (pictured) is performing, while DJs Mothra, Badtz and Mouse have the dance floor covered. Souvenirs include vampy T-shirts, posters and novelty condoms — because, as the packages state, "Vampires always get invited inside."
Not prepared to pull out the fangs? Not to worry. According to Rodgers, partiers range from medieval enthusiasts to fashion lovers to artists just looking to sink their teeth into something new. Costumes are a must, but needn't include a cape. "Dracula's Ball still has plenty of surprises left in it," he says. "Even for me."
