The problem with wedding cake is that you usually need to sit through a stuffy ceremony and dance with strangers before getting your hands on a single piece. Well no more, desperate dessert fiend. At City of Hope's Let Them Eat Cake fundraiser, you'll score dozens of pieces without busting any Macarena moves.

Now in its fourth year, Let Them Eat Cake brings together Delaware Valley professional pastry chefs and students for some delicious competition. Participating teams this year include Simplicity Desserts, Cakes by Suzy, Barclay Prime and Sweet Boutique as well as previous winners Anne's Cake Pan and Eric Boerner of RiverCrest Golf Club (whose victorious dessert is pictured.) While some entries will take home prizes such as Best in Show and Most Artistic, all 34 will be available for sampling. For those who are actually planning a big day as opposed to simply sugar-binging, Phoenix Salon & Spa, gown gurus VanCleve Collection and Queen of Hearts Wedding Consultants are among the services on hand for the evening. Not at all concerned about the centerpiece color scheme? A men's lounge will feature brews from Triumph and old-school straight shaves by Ground Zero Salon.

"It's this fat kid's dream," says Harry Giordano, senior director of development at City of Hope. "If 34 pieces don't do it, bring a shopping bag." While there's no denying Giordano's fondant fetish, he's most excited and grateful about the work the night will enable. As all services for Let Them Eat Cake have been donated, 100 percent of proceeds will benefit the nonprofit's cancer research and therapy. Now that's sweet.
